A smooth surface. A golden gleam. A whisper of shape just beginning to emerge.
And then — silence……
Because once the amber begins to reveal its secrets, the artist pauses again.
They’ve already polished just enough to see a hint of the story inside.
A swirl, a glow, maybe even a hidden heart of darker honey or milky clouds.
But what now?
Where does this glowing gem want to go?

This is the moment Mr. Artszok, one of our most beloved artist-designers, captures so beautifully in his sketches.
Look closely — and you’ll see: these are not just technical drawings.
They are conversations between the hand and the stone.
Between what is already visible… and what could be.
“I begin asking questions again,” … says one of our artists.
“Do I follow the natural curves — or challenge them? Do I keep the stone whole, or dare to separate its most beautiful part?”
“Do I leave it… I think I may… this depth of colour needs more dramatic shape.”
“Trend is at present more defined shapes, more definitive edges — I can polish only these sides to show those screaming colours. Will I get the entire shape from this piece?”
This second phase is where design truly begins.
It’s no longer about finding what’s inside.
It’s about choosing how to honour it.
With different light, different part of the day, unseen shapes and semi-formed crystals of earth’s history are coming through.
What if I enhance naturally the depth of those inclusions?
Shall it become a teardrop of warmth, framed in gold?
A bold pendant, suspended in sculpted silver like a comet caught mid-flight?
The sketches hold the answers — and the possibilities.
And the most remarkable thing?
Every line drawn by our artists is a risk.
A commitment.
A promise to the amber, to the wearer… and to the story being told.
Stay tuned!…. for the final chapter, where our designers bring emotion, courage, and craftsmanship together to transform vision into form.
Because at SAPFIRE, we don’t just shape jewellery.
We reveal what was always meant to be.
